BREAKING- Ekozian broadcaster, STE, today shockingly announced that the country would once again participate in the 53rd WorldVision Song Contest after previously announcing that the broadcaster planned to move away from international broadcasting to focus on the quality of national programming however it has been revealed that MelodieFestivålen winner Hafthor Viktorsson, 25, will represent the country with his winning single Where We Belong.
Ekoz previously fully participated in the 50th edition of the contest, finishing 11th, their second lowest placing since the country’s debut in WorldVision 32. Media reactions to the STE’s announcement differ from outlet to outlet, many describing the broadcasters erratic change of stance in regards to participation of the contest. Public opinion to the contest has dramatically declined in recent editions with a viewership of 51.2% (33,210,923) watching the 50th edition; WorldVision 40 received a viewership of 89.98% (57,230,123). A spokesperson for the WorldVision delegation at the STE stated…
“The STE never conclusively announced that Ekoz would never return to the contest, it was just a case of when is best appropriate. The STE has taken on board the public attitude towards returning and feel it is precisely the right time to return, and the most recent winner of MelodieFestivålen, Hafthor, is a perfect representative for our country. It’s time to get the ratings of the contest back to where they were previously, and we are extremely confident that we will.”
With Ekoz returning, this is only one of the many nations who are returning to the contest.
National Finals (5)
Izmedu, from time to time, reaches the top 5 and almost always manages to clench s top 3 finish. However, the nation has not won a competition since WorldVision 38. 15 editions later Izmedu is looking for you to vote for who you may think will win for Izmedu!
Kishrael is a four time winner, and once held – alongside Polkopia – the nation with the most amount of wins. However, as Polkopia strives for the 8th win, Kishrael is still on four. It has been nearly 20 editions since the last Kishraeli win, but can they put that spell to an end?
Normandy and Picardy recently joined the double-winner club as they won in Quickenden in WorldVision 51. However, they would like to catch up with the likes of Kishrael and Polkopia in the contest and match their success in WorldVision to their wins in World Hit Festival. With an impressive line up, can Normandy and Picardy win again?
Todlichebujoku is a three time champion, last winning in WorldVision 43 – ten editions ago. Todlichebujoku has had recent dips and so they are looking to better their performance in WorldVision 53, while also (hopefully) winning their 4th Gold.
Out of the confirmed national finals, Mercedini is the only country not to have won not a contest before. Coming back from their peak position of third in Langtree, Mercedini, emotions are high and the WorldVision spirit is just heating up. Will Mercedini clench their first win?
So far, 22 nations has signed up to participate in the 53rd WorldVision Song Contest. Including bidding nation Arioslavia, who returns, and also including other returning nations; Britonisea, Ekoz, Kishrael and Antahbrantahstan. It is expected that there will be more returning nations, though this is not yet confirmed.
